How PayPal Innovation Is Driving Online Payments [Sponsored Post]

first_imgReadWrite Sponsors Top Reasons to Go With Managed WordPress Hosting 8 Best WordPress Hosting Solutions on the Market Why Tech Companies Need Simpler Terms of Servic… Tags:#e-commerce#Mobile Payments#online payments#Payments#What’s In Your Mobile Wallet? center_img A Web Developer’s New Best Friend is the AI Wai… As the world moves at the speed of technology, the way you pay for it all needs to be fast, secure and broadly available. PayPal has been filling that role online for more than a decade.Initially launched as a way to let people pay for goods and services online without sharing your credit card information, PayPal has expanded its range of Internet financial services to let people not just pay online with PayPal, but now in stores and via their phones. As currencies continue to go digital, PayPal is helping lead the way toward the digital wallet – and beyond.Available Wherever You AreSheer breadth of availability is one of PayPal’s most alluring but most overlooked features. The service is available in 190 countries and supports payments in 25 different currencies. Millions of merchants in the U.S. and globally accept PayPal. PayPal is also widely accepted by millions of active users, making it a safe bet that you or someone you know has a PayPal account. But that’s only part of the story. Users can also download the PayPal app for mobile phones or tablets to help manage account and receive deals. They can also conveniently make purchases using PayPal when shopping via mobile phone. Thinking about that new set of skis while you’re on the beach? PayPal can help make that happen.Thinking beyond the browser, PayPal has launched an effort to make itself available in other venues. The service can already be used offline at such stores as Jamba Juice, Home Depot, Abercrombie & Fitch and Foot Locker. While shopping at a store that supports PayPal, you can make your purchase in a couple of ways. First, you can type in your mobile phone number and your PayPal PIN to complete the transaction. You can also swipe your PayPal card. It’s automatically attached to your digital wallet. For coupon fans, PayPal has also eliminated the need to clip and carry paper coupons – PayPal sends you relevant coupons for you to choose which ones you want to save to your account, then, they’re automatically applied when you make a purchase using PayPal. With PayPal, all your debit and credit cards, money and bank accounts are stored in one virtual location, giving you the flexibility to pay with the card or account of your choice. You can also set up your PayPal account to link your favorite loyalty cards. When you pay with PayPal, you still get your miles, rewards, or even cash back.Security Where It CountsPayPal is not a bank, but since it’s been the financial platform of choice of eBay for more than a decade, PayPal’s security and privacy systems have been battle tested. PayPal keeps your financial information private and protected when you shop. You never have to give out your financial details to merchants or sellers – because they are secure inside PayPal.To pay with PayPal online, you need only your email address and a password. When paying offline, you need either a mobile phone and a PIN, or a card that is linked directly to your PayPal account. Either way, you don’t have to retype and share your sensitive information at various merchants. Rest assured, this takes nearly all of the security risk out of shopping. PayPal also includes a stringent fraud protection program that protects shoppers from any unsolicited financial transactions. You can also receive payments through PayPal. If friends or family owe you money – or if you’re collecting funds from various people to pitch in on a gift – they can send you the money via PayPal. All they need is your email address linked to your PayPal account. Even better news is that it’s very fast – as soon as the money is sent, it is available for the recipient to use. Unlike waiting for a check to clear or your account to be credited by a card company, you don’t have to wait for funds to be reflected in your account with PayPal.Innovation For E-Commerce – Moving It To OfflinePayPal offers multiple offline solutions depending on the size of the merchant to accommodate their needs. For example, PayPal Here offers solutions for small merchants that don’t have a permanent location, such as home remodelers, caterers, make- up artists, booths at a farmer’s market, etc. PayPal also has a mobile check in solution for small to midsize merchants that do have a storefront and need inventory management – but don’t need the full integration mentioned above where consumers pay using mobile phone and PIN or with a card.In these smaller stores, customers can pay through the PayPal app on their smartphones by “checking in” to the store through the app. The customer’s photo pops up on the cashier’s screen and when they’re ready to pay, the cashier uses the photo to verify identity, taps on it, and the transaction is automatically paid through the customer’s PayPal account. No cash or credit cards ever trade hands.  The company has fine-tuned its financial services to accept payment methods such as bank deposits, checks and money orders, escrow payments and credit cards. Instead of using embedded chips in credit cards to authenticate, PayPal relies on cloud-computing services to secure information and provide always-on access to finances. As the world becomes more digitized, a fast, secure and broadly available financial system is increasingly critical. PayPal is in a unique position to deliver that functionality and help digital wallets become the de-facto standard for even basic transactions. And the new payment options can only help shoppers by making it easier to buy what they want, when they want, where they want, and how they want. Related Posts last_img read more

WFI names tainted wrestlers for Asiad

first_imgThe selection policy of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) is hard to understand. Three of the four grapplers, who had tested positive for a banned substance and were pulled out of the Commonwealth Games squad, have been included in the Asian Games squad which was announced here on Tuesday.Noose tightensRajiv Tomar (120kg), Mausam Khatri (96kg) and Gursharanpreet Kaur (72kg) have been handed a place each in the squad for Asian Games which starts in Guangzhou, China on November 12.Narsingh Yadav (74kg) , who was inducted into the Games squad in place of Sumit – another wrestler who flunked the dope test, has however, been retained in the squad as he won the gold in the Delhi Commonwealth Games.WFI president GS Mander was at a loss of words when asked to justify the selection as things have not changed much since the last hearing for the dope-tainted athletes. The anti-doping disciplinary panel had lifted the provisional suspension on all the 11 athletes who tested positive for methylhexaneamine, making them eligible to participate in the Commonwealth Games. While swimming and athletics federations ensured they make use of the lifeline and included their athletes in the CWG team, WFI remained defiant and kept its four wrestlers, who were initially in the team, out of the squad. “The situation is different now. The wrestlers are likely to be let off with a warning,” Mander told MAIL TODAY on Tuesday.”Narsingh was an automatic choice as he won a gold medal at the Games. Joginder Singh (120kg) and Anil Mann (96kg) were injured and were not available for the trials which were conducted a couple of days ago,” he added. Mander claimed that the federation has a zero tolerance policy for dope cheats but followed it with a contradictory statement.advertisement”Since three of the wrestlers were not available for trials, we selected those who flunked the dope tests,” he responded without clarifying on why others in their respective weight categories were not considered. Besides Narsingh, Yogeshwar Dutt will be the other prominent name in the men’s team who will spearhead the Indian challenge in the absence of world champion and the Commonwealth Games gold medallist Sushil Kumar, who has pulled out of the Asiad due to injuries.Amongst the women, Geeta (55kg) who won a gold at the Games, will have another chance to prove herself at the Asian Games while silver medallist Nirmala Devi (48kg) will also be there. Alka Tomar, another gold medallist at the Games, will however, miss out from the event as her weight category has been excluded from the Asiad.Tomar did try her hand in the 63kg category but lost to CWG bronze medallist Suman Kundu in the trials. Gursharanpreet is the other member of Indian women’s four-member team for the Asiad. India have named seven wrestlers each in the men’s freestyle and Greco-roman style categories for the quadrennial event. The Indian men’s squad includes, five Commonwealth Games gold medallist which include Narsingh, Yogeshwar (60kg freestyle), Ravinder Kumar (60kg greco-roman), Sanjay (74kg Greco-roman) and Rajender Kumar (55kg grecoroman).TEAMS:Men’s freestyle – Vinod Kumar (55kg), Yogeshwar Dutt (60kg), Pradeep Kumar (66kg), Narsingh Yadav (74kg), Ram Vir (84kg), Mausam Khatri (96kg), Rajiv Tomar (120kg) Men’s Greco-roman – Rajender Kumar (55kg), Ravinder Singh (60kg), Sunil Kumar (66kg), Sanjay (74kg), Manoj Kumar (84kg), Anil Kumar (96kg), Dharmender Dalal (120kg)Women’s team: Nirmala Devi (48kg), Geeta (55kg), Suman Kundu (63kg), Gursharanpreet Kaur (72kg).WADA monitoring dope cases in IndiaThe World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is monitoring the cases of the 11 Indian athletes who tested positive for methylhexaneamine. The athletes have so far appeared twice before the anti-doping disciplinary panel which is likely to announce the verdict on Thursday.WADA secretary general David Howman said that it will wait for the decision after which it will decide whether to challenge the verdict of the National Anti-Doping Agency panel. “We monitor the results management process. As we do with any case under the World Anti-Doping Code, upon completion of the results management process by the Indian NADA, we will review the reasons for the decisions and will determine whether or not to use our independent right of appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport for any of these decisions,” David Howman said in an email reply to MAIL TODAY.At the Commonwealth Games, two Nigerian athletes also tested positive for methylhexaneamine, but they were suspended as soon as their results came out. “This was a decision taken by the Commonwealth Games Federation, which was responsible for the Games’ doping control programme.”advertisementlast_img read more

Ricky Ponting surprised at India’s ‘X-factor’ Rishabh Pant not being in World Cup squad

first_imgAustralian great Ricky Ponting on Wednesday expressed surprise at Rishabh Pant’s exclusion from India’s World Cup squad, saying he could have been the X factor in the playing eleven.Ponting met Pant on Monday night, hours after the India squad was announced with Dinesh Karthik being preferred over the 21-year-old for the reserve wicketkeeper’s slot.”Yes I was surprised when he was left out of the Indian squad. I thought he would be in and he would be in the starting eleven. I thought someone like him batting at four or five could have been that X factor and the difference between India and the other teams,” said the Delhi Capitals head coach.Ponting had nothing but words of encouragement for the star Delhi Capitals player.”One thing we know about Indian cricket is that there is a lot of depth around in batting and this time Rishabh has missed out. Knowing what he is like and the talent he has, I would be surprised if he doesn’t play in at least three World Cups before his career is over.”I had a quick chat with him. He seems to have taken it pretty well. There is no doubt that he is disappointed, he would have loved to be in that squad but the thing he still has to remember is, potentially, he will get the opportunity to play in three to four World Cups.”What is negative thing for the Indian team is positive for Delhi Capitals. Really happy that the decision has been made and he can focus on the back half of the tournament.”advertisementPant at times has been criticised for throwing away a good start. Asked if that could be the reason selectors did not pick Pant, Ponting said: “I don’t know the selection criteria. Don’t know why he is not being picked. I don’t why the other guys have been picked ahead of him. To be honest it is none of my business.”Though I don’t think he is impatient, he is a very smart player. I think he sums up situations and conditons really well. But they obviously have their reasons for not picking him and I am not going to comment on that.”I actually think he missing out you will see a different player in th IPL. His determination will shine through and I am sure he will score heavily in the back half of the tournament,” he said.On the game against Mumbai Indians, Ponting said his team has adjusted to the wicket and the opposition will have a tough time on a slow and low Kotla pitch.”It should not be difficult for us anymore. We have an understanding of how the wicket is going to play. It is going to be quite slow and slow and we expect it to turn a little bit. I feel it would be difficult for Mumbai to come play on this wicket. The last wicket caught us a bit off guard, we though it was going to play better. Also Read | Rishabh Pant and Ambati Rayudu named standbys for India World Cup squadAlso Read | A bit surprised: Sunil Gavaskar on Rishabh Pant omission from World Cup squadlast_img read more

In Maharashtra Haryana Jkhand BJP likely to fight polls under incumbent CMs

first_imgNew Delhi: The BJP is likely to fight the assembly polls in Maharashtra, Haryana and Jharkhand, all three ruled by the saffron party, under the leadership of incumbent chief ministers, party leaders have said. While BJP president Amit Shah made it virtually clear at a rally in Haryana on Friday that Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar will again be the party’s choice for the post, sources said Maharashtra’s Devendra Fadnavis and Jharkhand’s Raghubar Das will be the party’s chief ministerial candidates in their respective states. Also Read – Uddhav bats for ‘Sena CM’At the rally in Jind, Shah urged voters to give his party 75 seats in the 90-member assembly for the return of a “Manohar Lal Khattar sarkar”. “All three chief ministers have ruled their respective states for five years. Their performance is one of our key poll planks. They are the obvious choice for heading the respective government if the BJP returns to power,” a party leader said. The BJP had fought the 2014 assembly polls in the three states without projecting a chief ministerial face and announced its picks only after the results were declared. Also Read – Farooq demands unconditional release of all detainees in J&KWhile in Haryana, the BJP won 47 Assembly seats, it bagged 122 of Maharashtra’s 288 seats and 37 of Jharkhand’s 81 constituencies. A senior BJP leader said all three leaders have run “scam-free and honest” governments in the states which, under the preceding dispensations, were associated with “corruption of huge proportions”. “Be it Khattar, Fadnavis or Das, all three enjoy a clean image among the people,” he claimed. Assembly polls in Maharashtra, Haryana and Jharkhand are slated for later this year. The saffron camp is confident of retaining power in all three states riding on popular support to recent decisions by the Modi Cabinet, work of their own governments in the states and “disarray” in the opposition camp. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s personal popularity, which was the biggest factor behind the BJP’s impressive show in the 2014 assembly polls in these states, remains high, BJP sources said. The party believes that the central government’s decision to nullify provisions of Article 370, which granted Jammu and Kashmir special status, has received people’s endorsement, forcing even some opposition leaders to welcome it. The induction of a number of local satraps from the opposition camp into the BJP in these states, especially in Maharashtra and Haryana, has also boosted its prospects, the feel.last_img read more
