Siemens wins contract to modernise jackup rig for Arabian Drilling Company

Germany-based industrial manufacturing company Siemens has secured a contract to modernise full drilling-drives package and cooling system on jackup rig for Arabian Drilling Company.As per the terms of the contract, the firm will be responsible to modernise a complete and integrated drilling-drives line-up along with auxiliaries and controls that will be installed on an offshore jackup drilling rig for a customer in the Middle East.Under the contract, the Siemens will provide engineering, design, manufacturing, and delivery of the fully integrated modernisation based on BlueDrive technology of the company.Known as Master2Blue, the Siemens solution will utilise the footprint, cabling network as well as communication principles of the current system to enable quick, modular-style installation, commissioning, and startup.The firm said that the new system is a DC power grid with power electronics, controls, and cooling of 10 integrated variable speed drives.Siemens plans to deliver the new system early next yearSiemens Offshore Solutions business development director Thomas Steenberg said: “As the reactivations of stacked and un-utilized drilling rigs are increasing, Siemens stands fully ready to modernise offshore rigs and ships to make them safer and more energy efficient.“By using the latest drilling and propulsion drives technology, customers can assure their rigs and ships remain at the highest level of supportability for many years to come.”The firm stated that the BlueDrive system is an eco- friendly multi-drive solution that provides high levels of reliability, availability, and ease of service, with low emissions and an option for remote support.Siemens is scheduled to deliver the new system early next year.Apart from BlueDrive and Master2Blue solutions, Siemens Offshore Solutions also provides solutions to their electrification, automation, and digitalisation requirements.Recently, the industrial manufacturing company has secured an order from RUE Minskenergo to supply power plant equipment for a 300MW power plant in Belarus. Siemens will be responsible to provide engineering, design, manufacturing, and delivery of the fully integrated modernisation based on its BlueDrive technologylast_img
