Cortland County Sheriff’s Office investigating Christmas Eve plane crash

first_imgCORTLAND, N.Y. (WBNG) — Authorities in Cortland County say they are investigating a plane crash at Cortland County Airport which hurt one person on the evening of Christmas Eve. They say the crash occurred after the pilot conducted multiple practice takeoff and landings. The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office says a pilot had attempted to take off when he lost control of his single-engine plane and crashed into a snowbank. They say the plane overturned onto its roof and is a total loss. The sheriff’s office said the pilot, who was the only occupant of the plane, was taken to the hospital for a non-life threatening head injury. They did not release his name.center_img The investigation into the crash remains underway. The runway was closed for around 3 and half hours as crews worked to remove the plane.last_img
